I’m very new to Wordpress and I’ve been playing 5 years of catch-up over the past 4 weeks and believe that I have some authority when it comes to this particular subject because I still consider myself a Newbie. These plugins I highly recommend to make your life easier, post faster, save you time and help market your blog to it’s full potential. These are the top 10 or so must have plugins for wordpress that I’ve personally researched, use and highly recommend. I hope this list saves you a ton of time from doing all the work and research yourself as I did.

  • MyAvatars - Neat little plugin for coolness factor.
  • All in One SEO Pack - Optimizes your wordpress blog for search engines. SEF URLs, title, meta, and more. Can’t live without!
  • WP-PageNavi - Adds a very useful and easy navigation structure to the bottom of pages.
  • TinyMCE Advanced - Adds 16 more features to the Wordpress default TinyMCE text editor which now becomes two rows plus one hidden row.
  • WordPress Database Backup - On-demand backup of your WordPress database. Always good to have daily backups.
  • Adhesive or StickPost - Lets you feature a post aka ”sticky”, so that the it will remain at the top of the page.
  • Share This - Allows visitors to add posts to various social bookmarking sites or e-mail to a friend.
  • Popularity Contest - Keeps track of your posts, categories and archive views, comments, trackbacks, etc. and uses them to determine which of your posts are most popular.
  • Feedburner Feedsmith - Forwards all feed traffic to Feedburner.com (a free service that helps to promote your blog) while creating a randomized feed for Feedburner to pull from.
  • flickrRSS - Allows you to easily display Flickr pictures on your weblog.
  • Advanced Admin Drop Down Menu - Kinda self explanatory. I couldn’t live without this one. It no longer takes you 10 clicks to complete a simple task in your admin area. I think that Wordpress should not ship without this plugin built in.
