That’s really easy to do. Just edit sidebar.php fine include (TEMPLATEPATH . ‘/domtab.php’); and move it to the top of the page right below advertisement php tag. That’s it. To remove videos tab. Edit domtab.php and just remove the whole div tag around the video section. That’s it. (move the complete php tag.

My problem with this theme is, when I tried to open it with IE, the sidebar floats at the bottom. I tried with both left and right sides for the sidebar but no use.

Uploaded you theme. It is great. Having one glitch. The rotating images on the top is not working. The single header picture works but not the rotating gallery. Is there something that I need to do to activate it? Any help is appreciated.

@coolvideos Download the plugin pack that I made for the theme. It’s called content-gallery. Just upload the plugin then configure it with your own images, text and links or use the static image header.

Please look at http://www.xmanblog.com. For some reason my blocks are too long and not wide enough in the ad area and it is making my ads all off set. I know that some of them are not 125X125 but it was doing this before I added those.

Then you will also notice that where my featured video is, that block is too high as well. I am not sure what to do about it. When I uploaded it to test it on my http://www.greenorigin.org site it shows up perfectly so I must have a plug in possibly that it is not liking or something??

Only one thing I don’t like is its dark colour scheme. hehe, just my personal preference though, and it’s not that hard to modify, right?

@Rob: You’ll have to go to Alex King’s website to see if there is a fix for wp 2.6 It’s not something i can do. I might remove that plugin from the next theme update i have coming.

Braydon, this theme is fantastic. I’m looking for a new theme to use on my website, and this may end up being the one. I run a lot of podcasts, so I get quite a bit of traffic to show this off on. And assuming I get everything working the way I need, I will likely be using this. If so, I’ll be sure to drop you a donation.

So in any case, I have a few issues with the theme, and as most of them are minor fixes, I’m hoping that they can make it in a next version. Also, I’m moderately capable of making my own changes, if anyone would like to point me in the right direction.

1> The biggest issue is that there are a lot of areas where the theme relies on a certain size image. If it’s bigger or smaller, instead of trying to re-size it, it just breaks the setup. If there is no automatic image sizer being used, could we at least get the option to set the max picture sizes for each section. For instance, the slideshow feature up top. It can only be so big. It does a good job of using a larger image, but the moment reload the page, the larger image shows on the screen before finally snapping back into the correct shape/size. That’s bizarre. In other areas, like the 125 x 125, it will just display the full picture, no matter what the size is. I can’t always spend the time making sure that my pictures fit the specific requirements, so that’s a bit of a troublesome bit. If I have a 300×300 picture, I’d rather it be sized down to 125×125 automatically.

2> The banners apparently don’t work with .swf files. Flash banners are apparently becoming more popular. But this theme won’t even display it that I can tell. It’d be nice if that was allowed.

3> On the main page, the option to view a post’s comments is black on grey. Makes it a bit hard to see. I rely on discussion on our threads to keep the interest level up. So it’d be nice if it was a bit easier to see.

4> Concerning the comments, I’m not a big fan of the way the Avatars are displayed in the theme. Since they are placed at the end of a comment, and there is no sort of HR to break comments up, it’s hard to see who is saying what, based on the current structure. Is an Avatar saying what is above him? Or below him? What I’d like to do is make use of those typographical options for speech bubbles. And have the comment in the bubble, with the speech part pointing at the avatar. I assume this is all in the Comments template. But where would I go to change the div display?

5> When I’m logged in, I get this nice toolbar up top to post, manage, view Ikarus Options, etc. But when I logout, there is no option to log back in there. It would be nice if that bar could completely replace the Meta widget that gives the login button and such.

6> I see on the demo version that up near the search bar there is an RSS feed button. I don’t see an option for setting that, turning it on, or whatever. It’s just missing from my copy.

6> Finally, since I have multiple podcasts, I want to use the “Latest In” section to show the latest podcast episodes. I can basically do this by linking it to the Podcast category, which then contains children of all the different podcasts. That works pretty well. But I can’t figure out where it decides what to display for the message. Since I’m using podpress, it automatically places the player at the end of the message. So the player isn’t getting displayed. This is a very individual problem, so I’m happy to fix it myself, if you’ll point me to the section that determines what gets shown in that block.

Again, great work. I’m really hoping I can tweak this stuff enough to make it work for our site. If so, I’ll definitely be promoting it, and donating your fee.

@Braydon: Nice changes. they are coming along nicely. As for whether or not I would’ve paid for it? Yeah, pretty likely. However, the issue is that you have to pay for the theme before you can see it. I mean that mostly from an admin/options perspective. The demo works well enough to show the theme off. But you really need to see the theme for yourself to realize it’s value.

If you don’t mind, I wanted to recap some of my suggestions/comments, now that you’ve handled a good chunk of what I said. These are the ones that I still see as needing to be looked at. Plus a couple new ones.

1> The new image auto-sizing works pretty well. It would be nice if it would maintain it’s aspect ratio, but that’s probably a bit to hard to work in. But mainly what I wanted to say is the 125×125 banners should also force it’s size. After all, they are specifically for 125×125

2> In my comments page, I see: “44 Users Responded In This Article” with everything but the word “Article” on one line and shifted to the right, with the word Article shifted to the left on the next line. It’s a bit odd.

3> Also, in my comments page, all of the emoticons are having borders drawn around them. I imagine that is because they are images, but it’s a bit odd.

4> All of the icons to share a post with the different services were pretty obviously designed to work on a white background. On the grey background, it sort of looks like someone cut them out with a pair of scissors. Might I suggest adding a black block background to them, or perhaps even better, ditching them in favor of an included “ShareThis” plugin.

5> Keep my SWF Banner needs and Banner rotation suggestion in mind for the future.

6> This one seems pretty easy. Since there is already a wonderful admin bar beneath the slideshow box for doing many things, could you also include a bar that includes the option to log in when you are not already logged in? I hate to keep that Meta widget around just for the purpose of logging in, when most of the other tools I need are already included in that bar when I am logged in.

Again, just a re-cap with a couple new thoughts. I figured with my ideas spread out, it would be a bit difficult to remember them all. Thanks for the help so far.

I just noticed another thing I wanted to suggest (Sorry!)

When you are logged in, you still get the admin bar. You can’t use any of those tools, but you can still see them all as options. Any chance we could get a user-tool bar to take the place of the admin bar if they don’t have sufficient privs to access that content? I’m a big fan of the “If they can’t use it, they shouldn’t see it approach to design.

Its cool to see the bubbles below each comments in the new update! How can I update my theme?

I keep trying to squash bugs, and I keep coming across some minor ones. I want to make sure that the theme is the best it can be. Check out my comments page, Braydon. I’m having an issue that when I have an abnormally large comment, the speech bubble breaks. Also, when you click on a comment’s time, it’s supposed to load the page and take you down to that comment. However, it’s as if it doesn’t know where to find the #comment-#### section of the page. Might want to check that out as well.

The 125×125 banners have to stay the way they are. They have to be actual sizes to display properly.

The banners have to be 125×125 to display correctly. But if you have a 300×300 image, that could just as easily be forced to 125×125. Anyway…no big deal, it’s an easy enough fix that I can do it to my copy…

Let me know if you fix the speech bubble problem. That’s a pretty huge issue for me. I don’t think I can continue with my plans for this theme unless I can come up with a way to fix the issue. It seems like it would be a matter of coming up with a repeater image and sticking it in there, but I can’t wrap my head around the multi-tiered div tags, so I’m not sure where I would need to put something like that in. So I doubt I’ll be able to fix this on my own.

Hey Braydon, I love this theme, unfortunately something is way wrong with my installation.

I have lot of experience with WP installs and have never seen this yet. The install looks as if there is no configuration, no css, just the raw text output.

I am going to try and figure this out, so if everything looks good by the time you see it, I’ll let you know what I found out. I’m sure it’s something easy, but I don’t know what file or setting to start with.

I’m hosted on a HostGator server using a cpanel install, the WP install was just done fresh with v 2.6 I then downloaded the Ikarus theme and installed it. I tried setting some of the options to see if there was something in there.

My assumption is a configuration file is not getting pulled into the template.

Any ideas ??

This site will be a commercial site and I will gladly pay the $30 once I get everything all set up and running smooth.

Anyone else having issues with the sidebar featured articles not being linked? Seems to work okay on my demo…

Hey Braydon, I was thinking the same thing. The part that really baffled me is I had already re-downloaded and re-installed the files twice.

However, I remembered back when I was using a different FTP application I would occasionally come across uploads that would fail at some point and then I had to go back and compare files to see where it dumped the upload.

I did a clean install on another domain, and added the files to the server in several steps and presto it worked. I then went back to 33videos and deleted the template folder and did the same thing with the upload, and it worked.

So … turns out it must have been a corrupt file.

I hate it when simple things like this put a kink in the process, but I’m relieved at the same time that I got it working. Hopefully this will help someone else who comes across similar situations.

This may be a stupid question, and perhaps it’s because of it being nearly 2am but how in the world do I add video’s to the video tab (the one right next to the tags, and latest tabs). I have been searching like mad.

I see the featured content gallery but it appears only to be for articles, and when I tried to place a youtube video into that area it didn’t show up anywhere.

I’m going to give up for now, hopefully I will come back refreshed and the answer will magically appear, or someone here will smack me around a bit and let me know

1. My Flickr looks all jammed up & not evenly spaced as per yours (I am using the FlickrRSS plugin & haven’t changed the Flickr code or CSS)

2. I am wanting to use either of the magazine layouts but am frustrated as I can’t seem to have it show all of my posts in date order as per a standard blog. It is showing only those allocated as a category in the setup.
